Charleston Community Acupuncture takes a more delicate approach towards treating children under the age of 10, than we do with adults. The challenge is twofold: first, about half of children are afraid of needles, and second, children are unfamiliar with pain or discomfort and are more likely to cry from treatment. If the child is afraid of needles, our Acupuncturists can use lasers, pediatric massage as well as acupuncture seeds and tacks. Otherwise, we help mitigate any possible discomfort by using fewer and/or thinner Japanese needles as gently as possible.
