Charleston Community Acupuncture’s abdominal massage sessions are an effective way to help improve your reproductive systems (fertility), digestive systems(constipation, bloating, cramping), your lymphatic systems (detoxify the intestines and liver). Many people report holding tension in the abdominal organs, causing congestion and blocking the body’s energy, also known as Qi. This eventually weakens these organs, particularly the digestive system, causing problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, bloating and gas. Applying local pressure to the abdomen and pelvis separates the organs and muscle. This stimulates the circulation of blood, and eliminates the secretion of hormones thereby improving the transmission of nerve impulses by decreasing pressure on the the abdominal nerve plexus, a hub of nerves that is vital to our digestive and reproductive organs. Thus, abdominal massage can also increase fertility by repositioning and increasing blood flow to the uterus by releasing tension in the diaphragm, aligning the pelvis and other core muscles.
Treatments are held on massage tables separated by curtains, within a dimly lit room as ambient music plays in the background. Clients undress to their level of comfort or need and, if desired, draping sheets are available to maximize privacy. After the massage, the patient will receive acupuncture.
